Job Description: SEND Teaching Assistant – Hounslow – Immediate Start!
We have an exciting opportunity for a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming primary school in the Hounslow area. The school caters for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), with many students working at nursery level.
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, starting immediately. Experience with EYFS and/or supporting non-verbal pupils would be highly desirable.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) at a primary school age, helping them to develop both socially and academically.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities to meet pupils’ individual learning needs.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Assist with communication support, especially for pupils who are non-verbal, using appropriate strategies and resources.
- Contribute to pupils’ personal care and daily routines, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and supported.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to assist with lesson preparation, maintain records, and encourage positive classroom behaviour.
What We’re Looking For:
- Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferable, particularly with EYFS or SEND pupils.
- A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced Child-Only DBS check.
- Ideally reside in or near Hounslow or have reliable transport to commute.
